There is an ever-changing palette of festivals, carnivals and markets on offer throughout the year including the Festival of Colour, hot air balloons in Balloons Over Waikato, car racing and of course the oyster and seafood festivals. Jazz, folk and rock concerts are a favourite but for those who prefer a more relaxed holiday, there are numerous garden shows and the Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival.
