Logan Park High School
Logan Park High School is known as Dunedin's School of the Performing Arts and is proud of its very good and well-deserved reputation. Students get an excellent education and gain high academic achievements.
Logan Park High School is a mixed school in Dunedin, a city of 120,000 inhabitants, also home to the University of Otago and known as a student city in New Zealand. The school is located in a valley surrounded by forests and can be reached with a five-minute walk from the campus.
Logan Park High School is attended by 670 students in the ninth to thirteenth grade. Emphasis in addition to regular tuition is on art, music, theater, natural sciences and acting as well as an outdoor-oriented leisure offer. In addition, it is one of the few secondary schools in New Zealand that offers Latin at all class levels.
Students have access to computers during and outside of class, with only two students attending Logan Park High School. Music students have the opportunity to participate in choirs, chamber music groups, a jazz band, an orchestra and an extracurricular rock music academy.
Logan Park High School is one of the national elite in the sports field, among others. in rowing and fencing, and is historically particularly strong in indoor soccer, soccer and basketball for boys. The hockey, volleyball, badminton and ice hockey teams can also keep up with the other schools. Surfing is also offered in the first and fourth semesters.
The school has a climbing club and the only covered climbing wall in the city. In addition to some outdoor education modules in gymnastics, the school offer international students an outdoor adventure program that consists of at least two excursions per semester and includes kayaking, skiing or snowboarding, hiking and sightseeing tours.
Special training opportunities
With its artistic focus, Logan Park invites students from year 13 to obtain the "Certificate of Fine Arts". Participants gain knowledge in painting, printing, design, photography, sculpture, classical and art history.

Logan Park High is located in the scenic area of Dunedin, one of the most beautiful cities in the South Island of New Zealand and only 10 minutes away from the city center. In the "Outdoor Experience" program, sports-loving nature lovers explore the beautiful New Zealand landscape. You will learn climbing, downhill skiing, hiking, biking, river crossing and first aid. Even top athletes like short distance runner Chris Donaldson, basketball player Mark Dickel or netball player Belinda Colling have attended Logan Park High School!
There are numerous opportunities for musical students, including two choirs, several chamber music groups, an orchestra, and an award-winning jazz band.

Homestay
Logan Park High School will document and determine that students are accommodated in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International students. All students are required to stay in school-approved homestay accommodation. The homestay co-ordinator assesses the suitability of homestay carers and New Zealand Police vetting is carried out for all persons aged 18 or over resident in the household.
ESOL
The ESOL Department helps provide both Migrant and International Students with the English language skills and qualifications required to achieve in the New Zealand education system. We provide small and friendly classes to ensure that all students have every opportunity to have their individual learning needs met. Up to 12 hours tuition in ESOL is available every week.
The course and classes offered depends on the numbers and needs of the students that year. ESOL courses and classes are redesigned each year to best meet the needs of the current students. Students can choose to concentrate on improving their skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening for NCEA credits or for external English Language Exams or both.
